Gmail - Email by Google App Reviews

Works excellent

Gmail app works well. Everything is organized well in the app so that’s nice.

? Pros and cons. Not a clear winner over mail.app ?

I use the base Apple mail app. I keep the Gmail app around for those few times when I get something I want to “Report Spam”. That’s it. My gripes: - NO support. Typical Google. Zero, zilch, null, nada, none, zip. - On label open (e,g., Trash, Spam), first message’s ENTIRE contents displayed. Entirely shoddy and unacceptable. Big pro: latest update has added excellent access to some account-level settings. Like, e.g., which services have access to my account, which Google services I’m using, where recent logons have occurred, security events have happened, etc. Handy.

Why Red?

Why does the to banner have that hideous shade of red? That’s all.

Great!

Truly love this app! Just wish they’d add an Apple Watch feature so I could check my email on the go!!

Good, but of course I have wishes!

1. I wish I could set one swipe to archive and the other delete 2. I wish I could switch tabs and accounts more easily. For one, make the top tab name click able so I can select. Maybe let me swipe left and right up there to switch accounts. 3. Im finding that sends are not necessarily inserted into galactic Gmail "sent" such that I cant find a message I sent from mobile gmail in the web version. 4. Signature seems to keep getting tracked on to a stream on each reply. If a computer can win at go, I think we can be smarter about signatures.

Locked out is ridiculous

I want an only main complaint for Gmail is once you’re locked out trying to get back into a Gmail account without the original phone or device used to open it is impossible and I need those photos and important documents that are on those accounts there’s got to be way!

Papolomics

Documents systemized and organized

Needs improvements

Like, a lot of improvements.

Limited 3D touch use

From the notifications area when you 3-D touch the default email app notification it expands and you can see a lot of content in it. Please include this functionality for Gmail app also so whenever I get an email notification from the gmail app I have the added functionality of 3-D touching the notification and seeing some more content in the notification.

Dont want chrome

When opening links, it gives me the option of using chrome or safari. Why do you have a toggle to turn off the question if its just going to ask me every time anyway?

Avoid - use your native mail browser

Google clearly has the C team involved here on this app. Search functionality never works. Address book doesn’t pick up recents. No ability to search in deleted items. Thread reading makes it impossible to find where you are in a conversation of mails. Attachments paste in mail instead of attaching. Worst app on iPhone

Gmail is harder then god to get in contact with

No one from gmail will contact me after i write help and it’s impossible to contact anyone. I have not received emails in weeks nor can i receive

Iraq

Good

Horrible!

The latest update was the straw that broke this Camel’s back. I hope the programmers responsible get fired. Looking for an alternate. Very user unfriendly. A piece of s@#t.

Clean and sharp

I’m impressed. I’ve used other mail apps for years since I always felt the Gmail app was kind of messy. After Newton started charging I’ve been looking for a replacement. I used Several different ones and after deciding to split my main email address from the address I used for stores and others that like to send me junk all the time I decided to try the new gmail app. I’m glad I did.

Prefer the google inbox app

I like this but I prefer the inbox app that google makes. But it’s not updated for the iPhone X yet

Crashes

App started crashing on my iPhone X. Had to delete.

Great!

App works great no problems!

Stop the threading madness!

I give this a 1-star because emails are threaded (conversations) and there is NO option turn it off (like you can on desktop). At the very least, conversations should at least take you to the most recent message when you open the email (auto scroll to latest message) or sort the messages with most recent at the top. When you are in a long thread with multiple people replying, one has to scroll all the way to the bottom of the email to see the latest message. Super annoying!!

Great, but missing core iPad features

I love Gmail on the iPad, but have a few requests: First, please implement the split-view functionality! It’s so frustrating to not be able to use the actual multitasking power of the new iOS versions with one of my most-used apps! Second, the inability to add an attachment from my Files app / iCloud Library is a real hindrance. Third, please make it possible to add a bullet list (unordered list) and links into emails, as well. It’s one of the few things that forced me to restart my laptop after having shifted entirely to iPad. (If Apple’s own Mail.app weren’t so busted, I’d use that instead of Gmail, considering it allows for 2 out of 3 of these things. But Mail.app fails to deliver messages frequently, which is a graver sin.)
