Annoying browser selection prompts

Generally good app, but every single time I open a web link it tries to get me to download Chrome even though every single time I pick safari and ask it to not ask again. It’s getting really annoying.

Great

Awesome sauce. Easy interface

Let me explain

I’ve been using gmail for as long as I’ve had an email address. I think using it and can’t really be bothered to use any other device. I’m not rating Gmail itself 2 stars. It’s the app. More specifically, when I go to open an link, it asks me each time if I want to open it with Safari or Google. It offers an option to ask every time. I don’t use the google search app. I use safari, so I turn off the option to ask each time and just use safari. But for some reason it seems to not get this and ask me each time. It’s a silly reason to be annoyed, I know, but I’m pretty sure I made up my mind a long time ago. I don’t want to use the google app. I don’t want to be asked every time. I get it, trying to market your app, but it doesn’t need to ask me every time. If this gets fixed it’s five stars, but right now I’m tired of having to chose safari each time

New Gmail account

My 18 year old daughter said I have to stop using old school AOL for my mail and get Gmail!!!! So far so good!!! Thank You

I used to like, but...

I really liked this app. I felt it fetched my mail faster than my iPhone’s default app, and I like how it renders mail with graphics. However, recently, Google has really been trying to push iPhone users to use the Chrome browser instead of Safari. I have tried Chrome in the past and just did not want to use it on my device and uninstalled it. So, I un-toggled the “Open with” button when asked if I wanted to open email links with Chrome. But, each and every single time I clicked a link, it still asked me which browser I wanted to use, despite asking the Gmail app to NOT ask me about my browser again. This happened every time, whether I had just updated the app or not. I understand that Google wants me to use their products (which I do, most of the time), but when you give me the option to choose my browser for the long term and I do, there is no reason to shamefully plug your other products. If I wanted to use Chrome, I would. If I hear of Google fixing this issue, I will download the Gmail app again. However, I will not be using it for the time being. There’s no need to add an extra step every time I want to open a link.

Tries to force you to use chrome

Also, all ads shown are highly offensive

I have no idea

So basically I just got this app and I think it’s cool, I’ve seen my mom use it and it’s really cool! So I do recommend this app ?????

No Notifications

I love the gmail app interface and have used it solely on all android devices. Now that I have iOS I’m extremely frustrated; the gmail app simply will not generate notifications (yes, they are turned on both on the app and in phone settings, yes I have done many steps of trouble-shooting like uninstalling and logging out/in, updating, etc. and yes, I understand iOS limits “push” for this app). I’ve turned on Fetch to different time intervals - nothing. I get no notification or badge app icon. Please fix this! I do not want to use the default mail app or another mail app but I need to be able to get notified when an email comes in!

SAVING EMAILS

Maybe its just me but I cant figure out how to transfer certain emails into folders for saving. When I was using my beloved other service it was a snap. The only reason I changed was because the Verizon tech said my old service was not well supported anymore. I was having a little trouble with it loading. Wish I could have kept it. It was so easy to use. I do not care for gmail at all.

Love it!

I have multiple emails and so easy to switch between them. The app is so easy to navigate. Just wish there was a night mode so I don’t have to squint my eyes at night.

So far so good

Awsome App, nicely done! 5 Stars for you guys! Continue developing apps like this!

Fix. The. Notification Badge. Bug.

Please, for the love of all that is holy, listen to all the reviews and fix the badge bug. When I’ve cleared my boxes I can’t stand to still see that I’ve got unread/new emails from the badge notification. I know, some might say to disable the badge, but that’s not what I need. I still need to know if I’ve got new mail, I just need that number to be accurate. Can’t wait to see this fixed because without this issue the app is easily 5 stars and one of my favorites in the productivity category.

Good but stop asking which browser

I’ve used Gmail on iPhones and an Android as well and it’s pretty solid. But please stop the thing from asking which browser to open links with, especially when I switch off the little toggle button that says something like “Ask every time which browser to use.” Thanks for the good product, but if that continues I’ll stop using it

Select browser

Every time I try to open a link in Gmail app it asks which browser I’d like to use: Chrome or Safari and gives option to “ask this every time”, but unfortunately now it just asks every time even though I ask it not to. Super annoying

Safari or Chrome?

The app works great, but since this last update, it never seems to remember my preference of which browser to use when opening a link or article from an email!! Whenever clicking on a link, it’ll say “open with” And will then give the option to download Chrome or use Safari. There’s also a little switch at the bottom that says “ask me which app to use every time”. If you you switch this off, it is supposed to use the same browser every time. But NOW every time I try to open a link, it asks me which one to use, even though I have told it loads of times “use safari, don’t ask me again”

Useless.

This app used to work great. Now it is useless and I had to delete it. It asks me to choose which browser to use to open a link from an email on every email every time, no exceptions. I told it NOT to ask me and told it to use Safari but it insists on asking me if I want to use the browser that is actually on my phone or if I want to open it in their useless Chrome browser which hasn’t ever been on my phone. Since it asks me this each and every time, I just deleted the app altogether. Absolutely 100% useless. App didn’t do this before latest update. Way to break what used to be a decent app!

Pushers

1. Stop pushing Chrome. 2. If you’re going to provide options to not ask every time, make it work. 3. Stop pushing Chrome. Every time I update, I have to opt out again. 4. Stop pushing Chrome.

Unstable after recent update

Gmail was great until I installed the most recent update. Now it routinely freezes.

Should not have to uninstall/reinstall to clear unread count

Something as basic as keeping track of unread messages should not be this hard.
