Gmail - Email by Google App Reviews

Unless you use Chrome, Skip It

Every time I click on a link in e-mail, I am presented with a pop up asking what browser to open link in. Even though I’ve unchecked the box to always ask. Frustrating. I’m back using Apple Mail until I find a better option!

Fantastic app!

I love the gmail app! Fantastic, intuitive and fast. Sometimes an email vanishes when I accidentally swipe it, so I need to learn more about that. Overall, great job!!

Deleting dating sites

I had signed up with Match.com and soon I was ready to delete my profile. I searched for ANYTHING that resembled a delete or unsubscribe button, but still unable to get it done!! The flirts and winks and emails continue to flood my inbox!! Can you please share this info with me as well as the rest of the world? Thanks...

its ok

its good for email, deleting should be easier.

It’s Google, I got What I asked For “Excellence”...

Top Shelf.

Can’t imagine a day without it

It’s the simplest and most stable app

Why???

Haven’t been able to receive emails since January ... So frustrating!!!

Love it

Organized and more efficient to use.

Crashes

My gmail app continues to crash (started happening three weeks or so ago) on my new iphone 8, and I have the most updated version. I use my email for personal and business use and it continues to crash. This is causing a lot of unnecessary distress. I havent had any issues with any other apps on my phone in years. Really surprised by this.

Apple Watch

Unfortunately, Gmail does not run on my Watch, which is too bad because it works so well on iPhone and I iPad.

Can’t change Notification sound

Can’t change the default notification sound. So stupid.

Clumsy app with severely limited control

Many annoying things about the app that made me switch back to the default apple one almost immediately. 1. Most annoyingly for me is the fact that you cant access all inboxes from multiple accounts in a single stream without forwarding the mail to a single account. I have many addresses for work, personal use spam etc that I want to monitor all in one place without switching between accounts. 2. Settings for accounts from other mail clients (Hotmail, IMAP/other, etc) is severely limited. 3. The app uses thumbnails for each contact/user. Usually this is just initials unless its linked to a google profile. When managing multiple accounts with the same initials this can get confusing. I wish you could switch off the thumbnail view for contacts/accounts or at least upload your own thumbnail to be associated with each contact. 4. Theres no way to manage contacts within the app. Neither google contacts nor apple contacts. If I get an email from someone I want to add to my address book, the best I can do is copy and paste into the apple contacts app 5. Related to 4, you cant tap on an email address to perform any actions except copy. Other apps bring up options such as "compose email" or "block address" etc, but none of that is possible with the Gmail app Thats all that pops to mind after less than 1 day of using the app. I was hopeful about making the switch, but google has really failed for this one. The interface may be sleek and attractive at first, but I soon realized it just makes it clumsy and oversimplified to the point of being unusable.

Lot of options

100 times better than the iPhone app.

Fast and easy

Love it

Generic Release Notes

Because their users are stupid?

Functionally Superior / Terrible App Icon Design

I prefer this app over any other email client for the iPhone. It is very a lot easier to follow a thread of emails through this app than it is on the stock app that comes on an iPhone. My only suggestion is to change the app icon. It’s an eye sore to have the icon in my home screen with so much white space unused. It would look much better if the gmail icon was zoomed in to where there wasn’t any white space around the boarder of it. Even if you had to stretch it to fit.

Poor connectivity

I am writing this review on the porch of a cabin in the Daintree rainforest on the Northeastern tip of Australia. Birds chirp and chortle in a rainforest that is ~180 million years old, preserving many species that have been lost elsewhere. As amazing as this rainforest is, it doesn’t have fast internet speeds, but 2G/3G is enough to get by. I can check Twitter, google image search the birds I see, and catch up on news. I can even write this review in the App Store. What I can’t do, however, is check email with the Gmail app. It doesn’t even try, as if it is programmed to turn off if LTE or WiFi isn’t available. Other email clients, like Google’s own Inbox, work just fine here. Gmail alone is not functional. Please let the app free - don’t constrain it to areas with fast internet only.

Best email corporation

Not 5 stars because of freezing bug

Great app, but not giving it 5 stars because at least once per day, the app seems to completely freeze. I have to double tap the home button, swipe it away to force close it, and then open it again and wait for it to "boot up." Fix that issue and Ill update this review to 5 stars!

Over flow

Should have some way to filter out all the people that try to make you and so you should be a separate spot just for anybody that isn’t your friend do you get commission to go put a star next to it something I have over 4000+ in one day so I just delete appThen I went back up to her to delete one by one so I don’t even bother checking my email anymore
