Clumsy app with severely limited control
Many annoying things about the app that made me switch back to the default apple one almost immediately.
1. Most annoyingly for me is the fact that you cant access all inboxes from multiple accounts in a single stream without forwarding the mail to a single account. I have many addresses for work, personal use spam etc that I want to monitor all in one place without switching between accounts.
2. Settings for accounts from other mail clients (Hotmail, IMAP/other, etc) is severely limited.
3. The app uses thumbnails for each contact/user. Usually this is just initials unless its linked to a google profile. When managing multiple accounts with the same initials this can get confusing. I wish you could switch off the thumbnail view for contacts/accounts or at least upload your own thumbnail to be associated with each contact.
4. Theres no way to manage contacts within the app. Neither google contacts nor apple contacts. If I get an email from someone I want to add to my address book, the best I can do is copy and paste into the apple contacts app
5. Related to 4, you cant tap on an email address to perform any actions except copy. Other apps bring up options such as "compose email" or "block address" etc, but none of that is possible with the Gmail app
Thats all that pops to mind after less than 1 day of using the app. I was hopeful about making the switch, but google has really failed for this one. The interface may be sleek and attractive at first, but I soon realized it just makes it clumsy and oversimplified to the point of being unusable.
