I literally hate it omg terrible

This app is horrible when I log in they tell me something is wrong all the time.

This app is great but the fact that you cannot turn of threading is ridiculous. It makes it incredibly difficult to delete messages in the middle or beginning of a thread. So basic for email. So unlike Google to ignore.

Final version keeps asking whether I want to use Safari or install Chrome to open links. Every. Single. Time. Do not ask again doesn’t work - very annoying.

Gmail app continues to be plagued by issues. Are they just bugs or did someone actually design them to work this way? Either is inexcusable in this case — these are both so pervasive and frustrating. 1) When I click a link in an email, the app pops up a question about which browser app to open the link in. I pick Safari (because I don’t have Chrome and I don’t want to install it). I also choose the option to NOT ask me every time. Guess what happens next time I click a link? It asks me which browser to use. And it does this EVERY TIME I click a link. 2) On the iPad, it marks emails as unread too aggressively. When I archive or delete a message, it marks the next one as read — no matter what. If I’m not ready to read it yet, I always have to follow up with clicking the Unread button at the top. Even when I go into a folder to see its contents, the first email is marked as read. PLEASE ONLY MARK SOMETHING AS READ IF I INTERACT WITH THE ACTUAL EMAIL — click on it, scroll through it, etc.

Why does this app have a 4+ rating? Worst UI EVER. To reply to an email you have to press the ... then select reply or reply all instead of having an intuitive reply icon. When you select to reply you still have to touch the screen to select an insert point to begin replying. Google iPhone team, look at the web interface and recreate the simple workflow.

Better than the website

Overall the app works nicely. It’s well organized and responsive. One major complaint is when attaching files or photos, you can’t chose the location which means you have to scroll forever or can’t even access the attachment at all in the first place. Would be nice if the app gave the option to chose the source of the file or image you want to attach. I have 5000+ photos on my iPad and they are categorized by folder and I can’t even access those folders separately.

The sent box DOESNT list who you sent the mail to??? Instead it shows "me" as the sender for all. Theres no way that I have found to change this! The only way to know who you sent to is to open each one or do a search. This seems VERY inefficient and a big reason I dont use this mobile app!!

I actually prefer the Apple Mail app. This one is a little clunky to use Lol gmail can’t brag and push their app if they don’t even have Apple Watch app!!

Threading of emails should be an option, not mandatory. One, I can’t stand the concept. The previous emails are in each successive email (that’s how email works). Two, there’s no way to delete individual emails in a thread without deleting the entire thread. When you sort emails and put them into folders, sometimes you get follow up emails that do not need to be saved, but with the Gmail app, ya either all or none. INCREDIBLY annoying. Also, the mobile signature doesn’t work.

Every time i want to email videos and pictures, it only lets me email 4 photos at a time, and short videos. Im just hoping that in the next update, we can send as much pictures and videos as we want.

I am looking for an alternative to Gmail that does not try to sell me the Chrome browser every time I click on a link. I like Gmail except for this, but it is getting really old.

It was working fine until the update. It keeps saying I have unread messages but I don’t do that’s annoying ?? otherwise the app is fine
