Not a Google quality app

I used Gmail on the iPhone for a while but tried other email apps for a change even the Apple native app. Came back and the current app won’t limit notifications like before to only important messages, it’s either everything or none. It could be by label but the app has no options. Google has the ability to do this but the app is so generic as to customisation. Now every ad I get that I make not important I get notifications about. Is this Google kow-towing to advertisers? Hmm maybe. Guess I’ll be trying other apps again.
