Need to select browser every time

A recent update has an annoying feature/bug. When I click on a link, I am asked which browser to use, Safari or install Chrome. I always select Safari and set the switch so I should not be asked again. The switch doesn’t seem to work. I had preferred the gmail app to the apple app but I will start using Apple’s Mail until the next gmail update.
