Notifications are no longer worker

My notifications are no longer working for my gmail app. All new mail is checked in the gmail app and in my settings badge app icon notifications are turned on as well.

I have to open up my gmail and hit refresh to see any new email messages. Anyway to fix this bug? Ive never had an issue with this before. It just recently happened the last few days.
